Art Deco Style Transportation Mosaic Maquette Study
This unique piece appears to be a study for an art deco-style mosaic with a transportation theme, featuring a train, a ship, a truck and an airplane.
The date, artist and location depicted in this maquette and the location of the finished work are unknown. It includes notes in the margins showing the artist's instructions for the finished mosaic work. References are made to Capri (the tile supplier?) and Jose, who may have been one of the craftsmen who worked on piecing the mosaic together. A reference to a building balcony suggests that the mosaic was installed at an exterior location.
